Training Build
Everlasting Marks is a non-profit 501c3 organization that is designing and building a free standing, off grid class room for the East Maricopa Resource management Education Center (EMRMEC). Plans are set for construction in 2010. The purpose for the 'Training build' is to teach future instructors for Everlasting Marks. Once trained staff will travel out of country conducting youth camps. Teens will be able to experience other cultures, and help build community buildings, to leave an 'everlasting mark'. Once building construction is completed, the building will be donated to EMRMEC to use full time as an environmental education facility. Donations are currently being accepted by Everlasting Marks. Ongoing Project

DOS (Desert Open Space) Garden

Our District is currently working with the Superstition Farm Team in Mesa, AZ.
Sponsor ship of the Garden began in 2007, and will continue thru 2009. The goal of this project is Permaculture and native plant education. By implementing simple techniques, one can save water, reduce waste, and recycle on many different levels.
This Garden plan includes Native ground cover, Cacti Garden, Healing garden, wildflower area, Organic ‘key-hole’ garden, and Dessert Tortoise Habitat. This site also has plans for a future Ed Center classroom, built of ‘green construction’.

Everlasting Marks will be constructing an Earth ship for use as the new EMNRCD Ed center. The design is using old tires, can bottles, etc, and repurposing them to create a sound, off-grid building using solar and wind power.
Donations for this project are being accepted by Everlating Marks at www.EverlastingMarks.org You may also contact Jamie Collins thru the website.

Students will be able to learn and physically explore a dessert-attuned environment in one field trip. Xeriscape design will show how lush our dessert can be with low water use plants. Continuing weekend workshops open to the public will also be scheduled.
